ENAIRE, the Spanish air navigation service provider, handled more than 190,000 flights (193,103) in March 2026, up 4.2% on the same month in the record year of 2025. ENAIRE would once again like to express its appreciation to all the organisation’s professionals for their commitment to their work.
Overflights—those not departing from or arriving at a Spanish airport—totalled 46,280, up 6.5% on the same month in 2025. International flights reached 108,447, up 4.8%, while domestic flights totalled 38,376, up 0.1%.
Air traffic growth in Spain in March 2026 was 2.6 percentage points higher than the European average of 1.6%. Compared with 2019, the pre-pandemic reference year, Spain outperformed the European average by 24.3 percentage points (ENAIRE: up 23.2%; Europe: down 1.1%).
By control centre, and again comparing air traffic in March this year with the same month last year, Seville handled 47,283 flights, up 6.5%; Barcelona, 83,843, up 5.2%; Palma, 18,631, up 4.9%; Madrid, 112,538, up 4.4%; and the Canary Islands, 39,517, down 1.1%.
Year-to-date figures
ENAIRE handled more than 500,000 flights (520,371) in the first quarter of 2026, up 3.2% year-on-year. In the first three months of the year, overflights (128,875) rose 5.1%; international flights (286,895) rose 4.0%; and domestic flights (104,601) fell 1.1%.
Broken down by control centre, Seville handled 130,737 flights (up 5.9%); Barcelona, 221,943 (up 3.4%); Madrid, 307,343 (up 3.3%); the Canary Islands, 112,632 (up 0.5%); and Palma, 43,875 (unchanged).
Traffic growth in Spain is running one percentage point above the European average (2.2%) year-on-year, and 21.3 points above it compared with the same period in 2019 — 19.5% for ENAIRE against -1.8% for Europe.
