Saura puts the spotlight on accessible mobility by signing a protocol that ensures the rights of disabled people
The State Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Pedro Saura, who is also ENAIRE’s President, has restated the Ministry of Public Works' commitment towards accessible mobility.
He did so while signing the general protocol of action between ENAIRE, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI), the ONCE Foundation and the Spanish Business Federation of Associations of Employment Centres (FEACEM).
The purpose of the agreement is to join forces and promote initiatives aimed at ensuring the rights of the over three million disabled people in Spain.
“Inclusive economic growth is not an option; it is the way forward”Pedro Saura believes, “inclusive economic growth is not an option; it is the way forward.” According to the State Secretary, we have to face “the challenge of accessible mobility,” and to this end, “the UN's 2030 Agenda is our roadmap, the agenda of an integrating country that is also environmentally friendly and committed to society.”
Improving the life of passengers with mobility issues
Alberto Durán López, the ONCE Foundation's executive vice-president; Luis Cayo, president of CERMI; and Daniel-Aníbal García, president of FEACEM, have all expressed their satisfaction with the signing of a protocol that will enable the four signatory organisations to work together towards making life easier (especially in terms of travelling) for people with mobility issues.
This protocol's signing is framed within ENAIRE's commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility, which is expressly included in its 2020 Flight Plan.
The agreement establishes a common framework, including CERMI, the ONCE Foundation and FEACEM, aimed at developing collaborations at an institutional level, actions to raise awareness towards disabled groups and joint policies for labour market integration in the air transport sector.
As a result, ENAIRE reinforces its commitment to the goals of the United Nations Global Compact, to which it adhered in 2018. This involves applying new universal ethical principles and values to its entire strategy and all its operations, as well as contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals included in the 2030 Agenda.
The General Protocol of Action will be effective for four years and can be extended up to a maximum duration of eight years.
