ENAIRE joins "Target Gender Equality", the United Nations Global Compact Programme that promotes gender equality
ENAIRE is joining the 2nd edition of the Women's Empowerment Programme, Target Gender Equality, of the United Nations Global Compact. This is an initiative with a global impact whose main objective is to integrate gender equality across all areas of the company and expand it to the value chain, including stakeholders.
This gender equality accelerator programme for United Nations Global Compact participating companies will allow this topic to be analysed at ENAIRE and provide access to development, training and learning workshops involving multiple stakeholders countrywide, and the establishment of corporate objectives for women's representation and leadership.
Companies that participate in Target Gender Equality have a chance to enhance their implementation of the Women's Empowerment Principles by strengthening their contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 5, Target 5, which demands equal representation, participation and leadership of women in global business.
ENAIRE is thus expanding its commitment to achieve real and effective equality between men and women, beyond the initiatives that have been implemented at the organisation
They will also have access to the latest data and research supporting the commercial case for gender equality, and will receive information from UN partners and experts on how to accelerate progress on gender equality.
As a first step in the commitment and drive towards this initiative, ENAIRE has signed the 7 Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) promoted by the Global Compact, in partnership with UN Women, on which the Target Gender Equality programme is based. These principles include promoting gender equality from the highest level of management, supporting women's education, professional training and development, and engaging in business practices that encourage women's empowerment and promote equality through community initiatives.
ENAIRE, as a member of the UN Global Compact since May 2018, endorses actions that seek to uphold human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption, in keeping with its ten global principles.
Similarly, in compliance with the 2030 Agenda and the guidelines of the Spanish Government's plan to implement this Agenda, ENAIRE has pledged to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 5, Gender Equality.
ENAIRE has various initiatives related to gender equality, such as its Equality Plans, work-life balance measures and protocols on gender equality. It also endorses actions to raise awareness internally and externally on the role of women in the air transport sector, such as the creation of the ENAIRE Enfemenino network, its involvement in the Ellas Vuelan Alto platform (EVA), and others.
