ENAIRE grants nearly 700,000 euros to integrate people with disabilities
In response to ENAIRE's 2021 call for subsidies to promote job placement and job creation activities for individuals with disabilities, published on 29 April, the national air navigation service provider received 108 applications.
This call will involve granting nearly 700,000 euros (690,228 euros) to 11 entities of public benefit that, after being selected through a competitive procedure, will be used to employ people with disabilities, in accordance with the objectives set out in their projects.
As part of a competitive procedure, 11 entities of public benefit have been selected out of a total of 108 applicants
ENAIRE's CEO, Ángel Luis Arias, thanked CERMI for its presence and involvement, and the entities that will receive the grants from the 2021 call, "which are estimated to reach over 1,000 beneficiaries, with 534 placements, some of them in the aviation sector".
Along with ENAIRE's call in 2019, in the past two years the entity has allocated a total of 1.4 million euros to promote the self-reliance and independence of disabled people by integrating them into the labour market. Priority was given to those initiatives that created jobs in the aeronautical sector, as well as to those applicants that exhibited solvency, experience and a track record in the field of integrating people with disabilities into the workplace.
The winning projects in this call will be implemented in every part of the country (Community of Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, Canary Islands, Basque Country, Murcia, Balearic Islands and Aragon) and take into account individuals with different types of disabilities (mental, sensory, intellectual, physical, organic, others), who will be more employable thanks to said projects.
At a time such as now, when COVID-19 has seriously impacted our social and economic lives, especially those of vulnerable groups, ENAIRE is committed to awarding these subsidies as a mechanism to help provide the means and resources needed to maximise the self-reliance, independence, quality of life and personal and professional integration and inclusion of people with disabilities.
ENAIRE's commitment to reducing inequality is part of its "Responsible Skies" Corporate Social Responsibility plan, which is part of the company's strategic plan, the 2025 Flight Plan.
Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
ENAIRE, as a publicly-owned corporate entity belonging to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, reinforces its contribution to the goals of the United Nations Global Compact (which it joined in 2018), which entails the application of universal values and ethical principles to its entire strategy and to all its operations, and to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set out in the 2030 Agenda; specifically, to SDG 10 "Reduce Inequality", which in goal 10.2 promotes "the social, economic and political inclusion of all irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status".
