ENAIRE celebrates the appointment of Raúl Medina as Director of EUROCONTROL: "Crowning a successful career managing Spanish airspace"
The appointment of Spaniard Raúl Medina as the CEO of EUROCONTROL, the Pan-European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, crowns a successful career managing Spanish airspace.
"At ENAIRE, as the national air navigation service provider, we particularly welcome the choice of Raúl Medida, which serves to reinforce Spain's leadership in promoting the European air transport sector". These are the words of ENAIRE's CEO, Ángel Luis Arias, who notes "the initiatives promoted by Spain in active collaboration with EUROCONTROL, and its support of the network vision and enhanced communications between all airspace stakeholders and users".
Of note in this regard are the advances achieved at the World ATM Congress, held in Madrid from 21 to 23 June, where "ENAIRE solidified its leadership and enhanced collaboration with its partners, showcasing its leadership in technology and innovation through projects such as: STARTICAL, U-Space, ICARO MAP, iFOCUCS and iTEC", noted the CEO.
Raúl Medina is currently the General Director of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, and the President of the National Aviation Safety Agency. He will be the CEO of EUROCONTROL, based in Brussels, for the next five years. His term of office begins on 1 January 2023.
As the head of this pan-European organisation, Raúl Medina will spearhead the sustainable and efficient growth of aviation in Europe, which is one of the greatest challenges facing aviation today.
In addition, the next CEO of EUROCONTROL has considerable experience and knowledge of this organisation, having been the chairman of its Board from 2018 to 2021.
