ENAIRE managed more than 140,000 flights in January, 35.4% more than in 2022
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation manager, managed over 140,000 (140,292) flights in January, 35.4% more than in the same month last year. Of those, 73,566 were international (+27.7%), 32,046 were domestic (+18.9%), and 34,680 were overflights (which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport) (+82.4%).

All ENAIRE control centres registered a double-digit increase in the number of flights managed: Seville recorded 33,570 flights (61.5%); Barcelona, 56,975 (39.0%); Madrid, 84,947 (33.7%); Canary Islands, 32,276 (22.3%) and Palma, 12,106 (18.4%).
ENAIRE drives the aviation sector
To prop up the aviation sector, the en route rates for 2023 remain well below the rates prior to the pandemic (2019), 11% lower in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands and 8% lower in the Canary Islands.
Moreover, compared to the average fees of Europe's four largest air navigation service providers, ENAIRE's rates are 28% cheaper in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands and 40% cheaper in the Canary Islands.
World leader in safety
ENAIRE's priority when managing these flights is safety. Safety, efficiency and sustainability characterise ENAIRE's management.
ENAIRE and CRIDA, its research, development and innovation subsidiary, received the 2021 CANSO Global Air Safety Award at the 2022 World ATM Congress.
This award acknowledges the work done by ENAIRE and CRIDA to develop a tool to automatically monitor for loss of separation between aircraft (Automatic Safety Monitoring Tool - ASMT).
About ENAIRE
ENAIRE is the air navigation service provider in Spain.
As a company of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, it provides en route control services for all flights and overflights from five control centres in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Gran Canaria and Palma, as well as approach services to every airport in the country.

ENAIRE, as the agency appointed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda to implement the U-space system in Spain, will be the provider of the Common Information Services (CIS), which are essential for administering U-space services to drones and Urban Air Mobility, in interaction with local air traffic control services, so that all types of aircraft can fly safely in the same airspace.
ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator. It has also been awarded the EFQM 500 Seal for its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.
