ENAIRE has already implemented 86% of the investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR)
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, is contributing to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) by investing 107 million euros, subsidised with NextGenerationEU Funds, to contribute to the development of the Single European Sky.
In compliance with Regulation (EU) 2021/241, ENAIRE has already awarded 100% of the investment, 86% of which has been implemented, with over 73% of the goals being fulfilled.
ENAIRE has already completed eleven projects, and aims to complete a further four this year in order to have at least 20 projects completed by 2026
Specifically, ENAIRE is contributing to the PRTR with the project "Actions to Develop the Single European Sky", classified within Component 6, "Sustainable, Safe and Connected Mobility", and the measure "National Transport Network: Trans-European Transport Network - Other Actions”, which is under the oversight of the Ministry for Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
This project is being undertaken through direct investments from ENAIRE intended to analyse the digital transformation of the systems used to manage air traffic; reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which will provide for the air sector's ecological transition, including the entry of new users such as drones; and ensure the social and economic cohesion that air transport generates, all in keeping with the actions promoted within Europe as part of the Single European Sky.
ENAIRE's project encompasses the modernisation of its air traffic control and surveillance systems, the evolution of communications and information systems, and leveraging all of this to boost the digital transformation.
ENAIRE's investments are part of the “Actions for the Development of the Single European Sky” Project, classified into 12 Actions (CID) and through the execution of 30 projects that materialise with the execution of investment applications.
ENAIRE has already completed eleven projects, and aims to complete a further four this year in order to have at least 20 projects completed by 2026.
About ENAIRE
ENAIRE is the air navigation service provider in Spain.
As a company of the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility, it provides en route control services for all flights and overflights from five control centres in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Gran Canaria and Palma, as well as approach services to every airport in the country.
In addition, 46 airports receive communication, navigation and surveillance services from ENAIRE, which also maintains their air traffic control systems, and 21 of them, including the country's busiest airports, rely on its aerodrome air traffic control services.
ENAIRE is Europe's fourth largest air traffic manager and participates in the A6 Alliance, a coalition of air navigation providers responsible for over 80% of European air traffic, and which is seeking to modernise the air traffic management system. It is also a member of other international alliances promoting the Single European sky, such as SESAR Joint Undertaking, SESAR Deployment Manager, iTEC, CANSO and ICAO.
ENAIRE, as the responsible agency identified by the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility to implement the U-Space system in Spain, will, through its digital platform, provide the Common Information Services (CIS), which are essential to facilitate U-space services to drones and Urban Air Mobility in cooperation with local air traffic services, so that all types of aircraft can fly safely in the same airspace.
ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator for four years in a row. It has also been awarded the EFQM 500 Seal for its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.
