ENAIRE managed over 1.3 million flights in the first seven months of the year, 8.5% more than in 2023, a record year
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, managed over 1.3 million flights (1,341,432) in the first seven months of the year, an increase of 8.5% versus the same period in 2023, a record year. This was the January-July period with the most traffic in history, and the forecast is for 2024 to be another record year.
In the first seven months of the year, international flights (766,406) increased by 10.3%, overflights (304,973), which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport, 6.2%, and domestic flights (270,053) 5.9%.
All ENAIRE air traffic control centres saw increases in the number of flights managed. Notable among the cumulative figures are the Canary Islands with 234,630 flights managed, a 9.2% increase; Barcelona, with 631,994, 9.1% more, and Seville, with 304,699, 8.9% more.
The growth of air traffic in Spain from January to July exceeded the European average (+5.9%) by 2.6 points.

In July, ENAIRE managed over 236,000 flights (236,106), 5.8% more than in the same month in 2023. Of those, 140,269 were international, a 7.0% increase, 44,052 (+4.2%) were domestic, and 51,785 (+4.2%) were overflights.
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed in July: The Canary Islands stand out with 33,766 flights (+7.8%); Barcelona with 123,050 (+6.3%) and Madrid with 118,178 (+5.7%).

As part of the organisation's successive strategic plans, the 2020 Flight Plan and the 2025 Flight Plan, safety, quality services, efficiency and sustainability are ENAIRE's priorities in flight management.

ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator for four years in a row. It has also been awarded the EFQM 600 Seal for its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.
