The number of flights managed by ENAIRE in September was 6.7% higher than in 2023, a record year
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, managed over 220,000 flights (220,844) in September, 6.7% more than in the same month in 2023, a record year.
The growth of air traffic in Spain exceeded the European average by 2.7 percentage points in September
International flights in September (131,333) were up by 8.8%, overflights (48,569), which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport, 4.8%, and domestic flights (40,942) 2.4%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain in September exceeded the European average, which was 4.0%, by 2.7 percentage points.
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed of more than 5%: Barcelona registered 112,510 flights (+8.5%); Canary Islands, 32,305 (+6.7%); Madrid, 113,610 (+6.1%); Seville, 47,682 (+5.7%); and Palma, 44,007 (+5.4%).

In the first nine months of the year, ENAIRE managed nearly 1.8 million flights (1,796,592), 7.9% more than in the same period in 2023. International flights from January to September (1,037,393) rose by 9.8%, overflights (405,725) by 5.6% and domestic flights (353,474) by 5.2%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain so far this year exceeds the European average, which is 5.5%, by 2.4 percentage points.
The cumulative data for the year also show that all ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed: the Canary Islands, 301,230 flights managed, 8.9% more than in 2023; Barcelona, 867,286, 8.6% more; Seville, 402,766, 8.1% more; Madrid, 963,669, 7.5% more; and Palma, 304,593, 5.5% more.

ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator for four years in a row. It has also been awarded the EFQM 600 Seal for its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.
