ENAIRE has had the best start to the year in its history, with a record number of international flights and overflights

Air traffic grew strongly at the start of the year. ENAIRE managed a total of 125,721 flights in January, 8% more than the same month in 2016. It was the busiest January since 2008 (139,562 flights).
The company handled a record amount of international traffic, with 70,468 flights in January, up 10.8%.
There was also a record 27,884 overflights (those that neither start nor end at a Spanish airport), up 6.5%.
Growth in Spain came in much higher than the European average (+2.7%).
Traffic was up across all ENAIRE control centres: Canaries (+9.0%, 28,216 flights), Madrid (+7.8%, 77,549 flights), Palma (+7.7%, 9,498 flights), Barcelona (+7.5%, 49,141 flights) and Seville (+5.5%, 25,442).
