Aena and ENAIRE meet with unions to encourage dialogue and find a resolution
Companies share basic union view on increasing staff numbers and wages and have conveyed this to the Ministry of Finance and Public Function
Aena and ENAIRE today met with representatives of the UGT, CCOO and USO unions to foster dialogue and find a way to avoid a call to strike.
The meeting was attended by Aena chairman and CEO, José Manuel Vargas; human resources manager Begoña Gosálvez; ENAIRE chief executive Ángel Luis Arias and head of the ENAIRE HR Organisation and Planning division, Sandra Millán. The union representatives were the general secretaries of the UGT, Federico Lombardo; CCOO, Francisco Casado; and USO, Marta López.
Aena and ENAIRE are committed to dialogue. The companies share the unions’ basic view on increasing staff numbers and wages.
Indeed both Aena and ENAIRE have already conveyed to the Ministry of Finance and Public Function their wish to increase workforces above the replacement level in order to provide the airport manager and air-navigation manager with the human capital needed to step up to the challenges of the next few years and to increase wages in line with the good results the companies are posting thanks to the rise in air traffic and excellent management.

With the need to cover the rise in activity and new requirements of official organisations (mainly in relation to operational safety), Aena and ENAIRE called on the Ministry of Finance and Public Function to raise staff numbers and wages once the National Budget Act (LPGE) is passed.
Both Aena, a company with a majority (51%) public holding, and ENAIRE are subject to the Ministry’s authorisation in these matters and are waiting to hear its answer before going forward with negotiations.
Aena and ENAIRE fund their activity from their own income, in other words they do not depend on public budgets so a decision like the one above would not negatively impact public accounts.
Today’s meeting went well and the parties agreed to postpone the meeting scheduled for Friday 25 with the CIVCA Commission for Interpretation, Surveillance, Conciliation and Arbitration. The meeting scheduled for Tuesday 29 with the Secretary of State for Infrastructures, Transport and Housing, Julio Gómez-Pomar, will go ahead and will be attended by Aena chairman and CEO José Manuel Vargas and ENAIRE chief executive Ángel Luis Arias.
Following today’s meeting, Aena and ENAIRE were keen to emphasise that they keep dialogue with unions open on a permanent basis.
