ENAIRE managed 209,053 flights across Spain in July, a rise of 5.3%
ENAIRE managed a record number of flights on a single day, with 7,063 flights on 29 July
ENAIRE, the company responsible for air navigation in Spain, managed 209,053 flights in July, 5.3% more than the same month in 2016. It was the 46th month in a row of uninterrupted air traffic growth.
Of note was Saturday 29 July when a record number of 7,063 flights were handled. For the first time since records began, ENAIRE broke the barrier of 7,000 flights managed in a single day.
There were 41,384 overflights (those that neither start nor end at a Spanish airport), 7.6 % more than in July 2016.
Traffic was up across all ENAIRE control centres: Seville (7%, 38,771 flights), Madrid (7.1%, 105,908 flights), Barcelona (4.9%, 107,186 flights), Canaries (5.7%, 27,474 flights) and Palma (3.7%, 46,817).
2017 Cumulative Figures
Spain’s 6.5 % growth in the first seven months of the year far exceeded the European average (3.7%) with a total of 1,130,611 flights. Of these, 675,932 were international, 7.4% more than last year, 220,051 were domestic (+2.1%) and 234,628 were overflights (+8%).
In cumulative figures, the number of flights managed rose across all the control centres: Seville (7.9%, 219,544 flights), Palma (6.5%, 173,162 flights), Madrid (7.5%, 629,423 flights), Canaries (6.6%, 186,759 flights) and Barcelona (6.1%, 520,809 flights).
