The Foundation ENAIRE presents "Infinito Interior" at the Instituto Cervantes
The awarded works and the finalists of the 2017 Photography prize are exhibited, as well as part of the ENAIRE Collection
The “Infinito Interior” exhibit, organised by Fundación ENAIRE and the Instituto Cervantes with the collaboration of PHotoEspaña, gathers a selection of works from the ENAIRE Collection. This selection includes the works of prestigious authors like José Manuel Ballester, Alberto García-Álix, Paloma Navares, Chema Madoz and Carmela García, among others, as well as other works by award-winning artists from the different editions of this Prize. The three awarded works and the seven finalists of the10th Edition of Photography Prize of Fundación ENAIRE are also exhibited. We must highlight that one of the finalist artists has received a special mention on behalf of PHotoEspaña.
The exhibit, included in the official programme of PHotoEspaña 2017, which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, will be open to the public from June 2 to September 3 at the exhibit hall of the central office of the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 49).
“Infinito Interior” is born from a reflection on photographs, captured as if they were a short story. This is what differentiates an artistic photograph from a casual shot; the artist's input that gives the image greater content through their language and personal imagery. That touch that lets us sense that a particular work is from a certain author.

Fundación ENAIRE has been actively advocating for photography for years, adding works from leading artist to its collection and promoting the Annual Photography Prize of Fundación ENAIRE, thanks to which the three awarded photographies have now entered its collection.
More than 1000 photographers have run for the Prize in the ten editions celebrated up until now. This consolidates it as a solid promotion platform for artists in Spain.
Awarded artists in the 10th Edition of the Photography Prize of Fundación ENAIRE
First Prize: Filippo Poli for his work Roça Agua Izé. Filippo Poli is a multifaceted author who collaborates in prestigious international publications, with sensitivity towards landscape and architecture that arises from his own inner world. The Jury valued his photographic quality, this formal beauty and the research project that supports his work.
Second Prize: Ofelia García for her work DRG-3. Ofelia García's work has the maturity of someone who experiments the rites of transition, whether they are in a discipline (from painting to photography), or the rite of transition towards a personal and artistic maturity, which is reflected in the abstraction of her works. The Jury highlighted the innovation in this work, as it is an abstract photograph with an interesting processing of colour and transparency.
Third Prize: Tete Alejandre for his work Se vende. The Jury pointed out the harmony of the photographic composition, in which he combines the sociological analysis of the building and the plasticity of the colours that comprise it. Apart from an artist, Tete Alejandre is also a sociologist. His photography blends his two main concerns: analysis and creation. He finds the essence of the collective mindset and projects it by playing with the colour scheme and the reinterpretation of the images.
One of the finalist artists, Roberto Aguirrezabala, has received a special mention from PHotoEspaña for his work Revolución 360º, from the series Entropía. This work featured his visual strength and the reflective contents of the 20th century's history.
Supporting photography
Fundación ENAIRE's primary objectives are the management, preservation and promotion of the ENAIRE Collection of Contemporary Art, owned by ENAIRE, an entity dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Public Works and Transport (Ministerio de Fomento), which manages the Spanish air traffic with almost 2 million flights per year. These flights are controlled by 5 control centres and 22 control towers, in an airspace that has more than 2 million square metres.
The Collection is comprised of more than one thousand works from different discipline: painting, sculpture, photography and media art, by Spanish and Ibero-American artists, from the second half of the 20th century to the most recent productions.
The Instituto Cervantes has also shown its support to Spanish contemporary photography, organising several artist exhibits. Among them are Ramón Masats, José Manuel Navia, Cristina García Rodero, Carlos Saura, Joan Fontcuberta and Leopoldo Pomés.
The exhibit "Infinito Interior" lies within a greater cultural project born from the collaboration between three institutions dedicated to the promotion of Spanish culture, and photography in particular, both inside and outside our borders: the Instituto Cervantes, PHotoEspaña and Fundación ENAIRE.
An outstanding exhibit of photographs of the ENAIRE Collection titled Inmensa Luz has already been presented in Naples (Italy), and it can currently be seen at the Instituto Cervantes in Palermo. After summer, it will be in Rome, and in November it can be seen in Milan.
