ENAIRE

At international level, ENAIRE has a clear objective: to influence the design and management of the European and global air navigation system, and to optimise investment in the development of the Spanish system.

Participation in companies and consortia

ENAIRE takes part in initiatives for the provision of regional and global services together with companies that deliver these services and may pursue new lines of business. The most important are as follows:

GroupEAD Europe S.L.

ENAIRE holds a 36% stake in this company, which is established in Spain and has offices in Madrid and Frankfurt (Germany).

GroupEAD Europe S.L. is the current holder of the EUROCONTROL contract for the operation of the European Aeronautical Information Database (EAD) service for the period 2022–2027, having provided these services continuously since 2003. It is also a leader in AIS training and consultancy.
ESSP SAS

ENAIRE holds a 16.67% stake in this company, which is established in France and has offices in Madrid and Toulouse (France).

ESSP SAS (European Satellite Services Provider SAS) is the current holder of the EUSPA (EU Agency for the Space Programme) contract for the operation and provision of EGNOS services for the period 2022–2032, having provided these services continuously since 2014.
PENS

ENAIRE participates in the governing bodies of PENS (Pan-European Network Services), which provided communication services for the exchange of data between ATM (air traffic management) systems at international level from 2009 to 2018. In addition, ENAIRE provides communication services for the EUROCONTROL Network Manager and for Spanish users of the EAD system, from all ENAIRE sites, through the use of the Air Navigation Data Network (REDAN).
Provision of Datalink services for SITA

Since 2002, ENAIRE has been providing Datalink communication services in Spain to SITA. This service makes it possible to automatically send and receive messages between airlines and air traffic services. To this end, ENAIRE operates, maintains, and manages its own network of ground-to-air data link stations and uses the Air Navigation Data Network (REDAN) for information transmission.
Provision of Datalink services for ARINC

Since 2001, ENAIRE has been providing administrative concession services for facilities, the provision of associated services, and maintenance of ARINC’s Datalink stations, as well as the use of the Air Navigation Data Network (REDAN).

Looking ahead, the intention is to position ENAIRE in initiatives related to the provision of satellite-based air navigation services, surveillance, and communications.

International tenders

ENAIRE strengthens its participation in international tendering and commercial bids for products and services associated with the provision of air traffic control, as well as the operation and engineering of CNS/ATM systems (communications, navigation and surveillance / air traffic management). The following stand out:

ESSP EGNOS Service Provision contracts

ENAIRE has been awarded five contracts by ESSP SAS to provide various services within the framework of the operation and service provision of EGNOS for the period 2022–2032.
NewPENS service contract

Joint tender for the provision of the Internet Protocol (IP)-based communications service for air traffic management applications (NewPENS), which replaces PENS. The experience gained with PENS has made it possible to identify different areas for improvement, aimed at strengthening the use of PENS as the ground-to-ground communications network between air navigation service providers in Europe.
NewPENS is expected to increase its use by offering its services as the largest network in Europe for the ATM (air traffic management) community, supported by a reliable, secure, and cost-effective ground-to-ground communications infrastructure (voice and data).
SWIM

System Wide Information Management (SWIM) consists of the development of services aimed at information exchange. SWIM comprises the standards, infrastructure, and governance necessary to enable information management and exchange between the relevant operational stakeholders through interoperable services.
