ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, managed over 225,000 flights (225,132) in May of 2025, 5.0% more than in the same month in 2024, a record year.
In May, there were 133,982 international flights, 6.4% more than in the same month in the previous year. Overflights (49,986), which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport, went up by 5.3%, and domestic flights (41,164) by 0.2%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain in May exceeds by 1.7 percentage points the European average, which stands at 3.3%, and is 15 percentage points higher compared to the same month in 2019 (before the COVID pandemic), which was at 1.3%.
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed in May: Seville recorded 49,733 flights (+6.5%); Madrid, 118,146 (+5.9%); Barcelona, 112,639 (+5.3%); Canary Islands, 33,036 (+5.3%); and Palma, 41,000 (+1.3%).

In the first five months of the year, ENAIRE managed nearly 940,000 flights (939,364), almost 6% more than in the same period in 2024. Overflights between January and May (221,045) increased by 7.4%; international flights (532,374) by 7.3% and domestic flights (185,945) by 0.5%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain so far this year exceeds the European average, which is 4.1%, by 1.8 percentage points, and is 17.2 percentage points higher compared to the same period in 2019, which was -1.6%.
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed so far this year of more than 3%: Barcelona, 427,702, 7.7% more than in 2024; Seville, 221,637, 7.2% more; Canary Islands, 180,620, 6.4% more; Madrid, 529,545, 5.2% more; and Palma, 117,283, 3.7% more.
